Announcing Treasure Montana
‘Treasure Montana: Cultivating Our Tomorrow’ is a fundraising campaign that seeks to inspire philanthropic support for a new building that will serve as Montana’s hub for environment and conservation on the UM campus. Join us in creating an intentional and iconic space for the W.A. Franke College of Forestry and Conservation that enriches teaching, learning, and research while fostering collaboration to address the critical issues facing Montana and the American West.
Joe Ricketts’ Jackson Fork Ranch Gift Funds Biodiversity Research
A major gift from Joe Ricketts’ Jackson Fork Ranch will fund a multiyear research and multimedia collaboration at UM that seeks to better understand biodiversity in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Faculty from the W.A. Franke College of Forestry and Conservation will lead a series of studies supported by master’s and doctoral students funded through Ricketts’ gift. Missoula-based Warm Springs Productions will film the research for distribution through multimedia channels.

A Lifelong Advocate for Education and Democracy
Steve Levine’s connection to UM and the Mansfield Center began in 1995, when he was invited to co-direct a National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Institute at the University. His service continued, first as the Mansfield Professor of Asia-Pacific Affairs, then as the center’s associate director. Although opportunity eventually drew the Levines to North Carolina, they have maintained their close connection to the Mansfield Center and recently made a major gift in support of programs, classes and activities that advance their passion for global affairs and democracy.
