Facilities for Student-Athletes

Winning beyond the playing fields

Grizzly Athletics is an important contributor to life on campus. Student-athletes excel on the field, on the court and in the classroom. They give back in a variety of ways through community service. And, our football game-day experience is highly regarded nationally.

We have Washington-Grizzly Stadium, the Adams Center and other excellent facilities for competition. Behind the scenes, it’s time for an update.

In the past few years we have made significant upgrades thanks to contributions from fans. This includes a new academic center for student-athletes — an inviting place for student-athletes to study and work with tutors near their practice and training facilities.

Student-athletes also benefit from the 2012 installation of lights at Washington-Grizzly Stadium. The lights make it possible for coaches to schedule evening practices. This means students can focus on their classes during the day. Locker rooms and the weight room are next in line.

You’ll understand the importance of updating these facilities if you talk with the student-athletes who call them “home.” Many of UM’s top performers can be found in the academic center, weight room and training room several hours a day, even during the off-season.

Jordan Tripp
Jordan Tripp is a third-generation football player for the Grizzlies. He averages nearly seven hours a day in the athletic facilities during the off-season. With this focused effort, UM will expand and renovate, making weight rooms and locker rooms the caliber our student-athletes deserve. Jordan can’t wait.

“We’ve talked about it for so long, and now it’s time to do it. It’s going to be great.” -Jordan Tripp, Business Administration ‘14, Grizzly Football Linebacker
