Montana Promise Awards

Ensuring opportunity for Montana students

Some students believe a college education is impossible because their family has limited financial means. We want this to change. Every student deserves the opportunity to receive the unparalleled education we offer.

Montana Promise Awards will help close the gap between federal financial aid and the cost of attending UM. Our goal is to ensure that every promising Montana student has the financial support to attend our flagship university.

Zach Brown While scholarships may have changed Zach Brown’s life, he has also been a constant agent for change himself. Zach graduated in 2013 with several titles added to his resume: UM’s 12th Truman Scholar, our 35th Udall Scholar and president of the Associated Students of UM. The Bozeman native chose UM because of the Presidential Leadership Scholarship. After graduation, Zach interned in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative as part of the Truman Foundation’s Summer Institute program in Washington, D.C. He will pursue a career in water policy and water conservation.

“Scholarships, and the donors who funded them, allowed me to focus on my studies and to give back to the University. They made an impact on the framework of my education. They changed my life.” -Zach Brown, Environmental Studies ‘13
