Powered by Us: Faculty and Staff Giving Campaign kicks off March 27

Powered by UsDid you know that UM is powered by us? It’s true. Every day University of Montana employees find new ways to support our students and our University. And every year our collective gifts to the University of Montana enhance the student experience.

Throughout April, the University community will be celebrating the power of giving and the importance of private support to UM. On March 27, the UM Foundation kicks off the Faculty and Staff Giving Campaign. The month culminates with Philanthropy Day on April 30.

Every UM employee can be part of this celebration of philanthropy by making a gift to the UM Faculty and Staff Giving Campaign online at SupportUM.org/FacultyStaff.

The UM Faculty and Staff Giving Campaign garners contributions from about 15 percent of employees, or more than 300 faculty and staff, each year. This year, the campaign committee hopes participation tops 20 percent.

The campaign is co-chaired this year by Cheryl Galipeau, Business Technology Department chair, and Rochelle Krahn, accounting associate for the Division of Biological Sciences. They represent Faculty and Staff Senate respectively.

“I support students through the Faculty and Staff Giving Campaign because students allow me to do what I love—teaching and advising,” said Galipeau. “The student that I meet at the first advising appointment is not the same student that walks out of Missoula Collage as a graduate. It is very rewarding to see this transformation.”

Employees can earmark their donations towards any department, program or scholarship fund they choose, and participation at any and every level makes a difference. Whether a small gift or a large one, every gift counts.
