And the Order of the Grizzly Goes to...
On September 24, the Foundation was honored to present the Order of the Grizzly award, which recognizes those whose leadership and philanthropy have made a significant impact on UM, to Suzanne and Bruce Crocker and Terry Payne.
All three recipients have been Trustees of the Foundation and active volunteers around campus. In addition, they have made noteworthy gifts to different areas. Last year, the Crockers established an endowment which ensures funding for the directorship of the Montana Museum of Art and Culture in perpetuity. Over the past decade, Payne was instrumental in the creation of both The Payne Family Native American Center and the Elouise Cobell Land and Culture Institute and has supported a variety of other campus units.
“At UM, we feel like the results of our time and philanthropy have a direct, beneficial effect, which is truly rewarding,” said Suzanne Crocker.
Payne said his support for UM springs from his very positive experience as a student of the University.
“My time at UM helped form the values and direction for my career, and I am very thankful for that. Investing in the University to help with the needs of the students, faculty and campus has been a very natural thing to do.”
