Support Your Family and UM

When you plan how to divide your estate your head may spin. So many competing interests! No worries. Our gift planning staff is here to help.

You can split gifts between the UM Foundation, yourself and your loved ones. Some types of split-interest gifts include the charitable gift annuity, the charitable remainder trust and the charitable lead trust.

Both outright and split-interest gifts may be designated as immediate, which go into effect now, or deferred, which go into effect at some point in the future.

Deferred gifts generally take effect at death and are most commonly bequests via a will or living trust.Other deferred gifts may include a life insurance policy, retirement plan/IRA or a remainder interest in a personal residence or farm. The beauty of most deferred gifts is that you retain the ability to modify the gift in the future to reflect changes in circumstances.
