Donors Support Facilities Upgrades Across Campus

Grizzly Indoor Practice Facility

Last spring, UM and Grizzly Athletics broke ground on the new Grizzly Indoor Practice Facility. Funded entirely by private donations, the facility will be the first of its kind in the state. Despite weather-related delays, the facility’s foundation is now complete, and construction of support buildings is nearly finished. Turf installation is scheduled to begin in June, and the facility will be operational this summer. With over 111,000 square feet of space for indoor football, track, soccer practices and more, the space will have a profound impact for Grizzly Athletics, UM intramural and club sports, and Missoula community members.

Grizzly Women’s Locker Room Improvement Project

The Grizzly Women’s Locker Room Improvement Project will provide a new and expanded locker room, lounge and meeting space for the Montana women’s basketball and volleyball programs, and new locker facilities for women’s Olympic sports and staff. With the Athletics Equipment Center now relocated to make room for the project, construction will begin once fundraising is complete.

Generous donors have committed to match up to $1 million to fund the project. Donors who give to the UM Foundation in support of the renovations will double the impact of their giving and ensure the facilities reflect the pride and tradition of women's athletics at UM.

A New Home for Montana Art

The new Montana Museum of Art and Culture building opened to the public last fall, thanks to the generosity and vision of many donors. The 17,000-square-foot facility is the first permanent home for the MMAC, which was founded more than a century ago. Led by H. Rafael Chacón, the Suzanne and Bruce Crocker Director of the MMAC, the museum’s curatorial team and more than 30 volunteers prepared, transferred and installed thousands of works of art from storage to their new home.
