Built in 1953, the Music Building was designed for a different era. Thanks to the generous support of donors, renovations completed in 2021 upgraded rehearsal spaces, acoustics, ventilation and accessibility, significantly enhancing the student experience.
While these updates marked an important milestone, critical needs around accessibility, quality and community remain.
In recognition of the Music Building’s statewide impact, the Montana State Legislature has committed $7.25 million for the next phase of renovations, contingent upon a private match from donors through the UM Foundation.
Securing the generous support of alumni, families and friends of the University, as well as individuals, businesses, foundations and organizations that support the arts will unlock the remaining state funds and allow the project to move forward.
Our students bring extraordinary talent, passion and energy to campus every day. Now, we have an opportunity to ensure their surroundings match their potential.
